I was in the middle of sewing the pages of a book together when I got a call from Dad, that Mom got sick and cant come with the bus, so we will have to go after her. And so we did.
To Hungary and back.Got some pastry and meat
(for me ofc) on the way. Even managed to get some sleep, tho the feeling of rested didn't come along with it.
Traffic was hectic, but we managed. Needed to turn the heating on and off in the car to keep the air at the right temperature. Not too warm, not too cold.
We caught sunshine and snow, but we got to the Artand crossing point, not getting lost in the city (!)
Then not even an hour passes since we cross the border and cops pull us over, asking for my dad driving license and to open the trunk of the car, etc. Everything was fine tho, so we moved along.
Roads are kind of boring in Hungary - they are so straight you get bored and sleepy.
o_O Not to mention the fact that there are no mountains, not even in the far distance.
In the gloomy cold weather it got me thinking, that it actually feels uneasy. No mountains.
A land where people speak the same language, but a land I cannot call home.
When we finally reached Cegléd, we got lost in it on the way out
twice. It got dark by the time we fond the right road - heading to the right direction after asking several people.
But then in Csemő, we mixed up the streets and got lost once more.
Finally we arrive.
Coffee, more meat, talk, catch out breaths, going back.
We get lost, again. And again. But not in the city this time, it was on the road. No idea where. In the darkness, can't tell which place is familiar and which one is not..
No map. No money to buy one. No town, no random shops open. And there are
hardly any roadsigns!!
o_O how the heck do these people get around?!
We missed a turn and had to go back 24km, then missed another one, and a bum almost crashed into us when the engine stopped while we were trying to turn around on the road. Then he drove next to us blowing his horn.
=_= Easy for him, he's at home!
We cross the border, back in Romania, half asleep.
Kept the radio loud, and talking about random stuff so that we don't fall asleep..
I close my eyes for a second, next thing I notice we are pulling over - flat tire.
It was 2:15..
The chilly air woke me up somewhat, and while my Dad was changing the tire I wondered how quiet the town is.
Its a craftsman's town; where the shops and houses are busy and crowded with tourists at daytime.
Was completely silent now.
It felt comfortable and uneasy in the same time.
We were all tired. Mom with a nasty cold, Dad up since 5:30 and having to drive, me up since 5 and keeping them awake..
Somehow it still seamed exciting to drive across the country at night.
There's just something about traveling at night..
The last few kilometers seamed like a walk across dream-realm..
We got home around 5:50. And took Thursday off.
